i know.
it doesn't make sense.
i dont understand it.
you dont understand it.

it's randomness.
meaningless.
one look and we turn away in confusion.
a simple try to make out the letters and we're lost.

but what if it takes more than one look.
what if we  need to look closer.

help me

hidden in the chaos. are words.
lost in nothingness is a cry.

life is chaos.
around us- in us- is pain. hurt. hopelessness.

we feel misunderstood.
so many feel mistaken.

how many times is pain mistaken for ignorance.
how many times is confusion taken as indifference.
silence as defiance.
seclusion as pride.

all feel forgotten.
like worlds crumble at just one touch.
one word, and universes shatter.

we. are. all. human.

flesh. blood.
but more than that-

a heart.
a soul.

we i need to look deeper. i need to feel for others.
cry with them.
understand them.
laugh with them.
listen to them.

why should i turn my face away.
did He?
why should i disconsider the cry for compassion.
did He?

even for the worst, He offered forgiveness.
even to the most broken, He gifted healing.
even to those the rest of the world deemed hopeless, He gave life.

in a world that is fractured, scarred and bleeding-
i can share love.
not my love.                  my love means nothing.

but His love.
because even just a raindrop of His love, and hearts are healed.
one single word, and pieces are mended together.

// put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. //  Colossians 3:12-13

  1. I thought I knew what chaos was until I went through the mortgage process which doesn't end until the day you close on a house.

  2. you are a wonderful writer ,in my youth i been facing such pain the pain of others ,there was no moment in my day and nights when while sitting laying eating or laughing did not feel guilty as i was the reason for pain of the people in world around ,
by the time life and experiences and observations made me realized that one thing is a facet that Life is Beautiful Bleeding from our creator and situations we face in life are our test with whom we have to deal smartly otherwise the negative result will be the reward of Less or Wrong effort

  5. Beautiful thoughts, beautifully phrased, Ashley!

Reminds me of the song that says "The Love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell. It goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell...Oh love of God, so rich and pure, so measureless and strong: it shall forever more endure, the saints' and angels' song."

  6. your writing reminded me of christopher poindexter's quote: 'the thing about chaos, is that while it disturbs us, it too, forces our hearts to roar in a way we secretly find magnificent.' sometimes we need everything to fall apart for the important things to fall back into place.
